Life at BASIS Charter Schools
Our Student Ambassador program at each BASIS Charter School ensures that each international student has at least one familiar face on the first day of school and throughout the year to help them acclimate to the BASIS Curriculum lifestyle. This means that a current student at the school will be helping the international student throughout the year adjust to the school and life in the U.S., make new friends, meet the teachers, find his/her classrooms, etc. Once your Student Ambassador is selected, we will share your information with them so that they can connect with you on WeChat, WhatsApp, or email prior to your arrival in the U.S. and answer any questions you may have about the school, etc. Student Ambassadors will also be at orientation, so you will be able to meet them in person prior to the first day of school.
All schools offer teacher and student hours. This time is dedicated to students that have challenges in any of their classes so that they can get help from teachers or peers.
All schools have a College Counselor. International students can meet with the College Counselor to get help with applications, choosing the right university, and signing up to attend college fairs or college visits.
Every international student can/will work closely with the school’s Director of Academic Programs to help determine the best schedule for him/her and ask any academic-related questions a teacher cannot answer.
All schools offer a variety of activities, clubs, and sports. Some examples include:
- Chess Club
- Dance Technique & Choreography
Schools also host a number of events throughout the year, such as:
- School dances
- Cultural festivals
- Parking lot parties
- Back to school night
